What Is IELTS And Why Undertake This Test?
IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is an English language proficiency test that every student who is willing to study abroad need to clear with good marks. It offers you the gateway to the world of academic and professional opportunities in Australia, Canada, the UK, USA and other English speaking countries.
IELTS Academic Training Program
This test is meant for all those students who want to enroll and study at a foreign university. Since you are planning to live and study in a country whose first language is English, IELTS exam will test your English understanding and speaking skills. It is divided into four parts:
Listening – The listening test is of 30 minutes and 10 extra minutes are given to write answers on the answer sheet. The monologues and conversations of the candidate are analyzed here.
Reading – The candidates are given 60 minutes and they need to read passages accompanied by tasks, text from descriptive or rambling, diagrams, text from newspapers and books.
Writing – The writing test is of 60 minutes and candidates have to write 150 words and describe the tables, graphs, charts and diagrams. They also need to write a short essay of 250 words.
Speaking – Speaking test is of about 11 to 14 minutes. In this test, applicants will be having a face to face interview, short questions, or need to speak on any topic.

This training program is meant for those who wish to improve their English for high school, college, employment or immigration purpose. It is further divided into four sections:
Listening – The monologues and conversations of the candidates are tested and they are given 30 minutes to complete the test and 10 extra minutes to pen down the answers on the answer sheet.
Reading – The test duration is of 60 minutes where candidates need to read the passages. There are factual texts and one long text taken from journals, books, newspaper etc.
Writing – The test duration is of 60 minutes in which candidates need to write an essay of 250 words and a letter of 150 words.
Speaking – Speaking test duration is 11 to 14 minutes where a face to face interview, short interview round and speaking session on any familiar topic is undertaken.
